Overview
A easy and fast to prepare Potatoes au Gratin. I found this recipe a long time ago on the internet so I’m not sure how authentic this recipe is. It does however make a great side dish that’s easy to prepare.
Ingredients
1 | lb | Potatoes | Yukon Gold or russet potatoes, peeled |
1½ | cup | Heavy Cream | you can substitute milk or half milk, half cream |
1 | Onion | cut into long slivers | |
1 | clove | Garlic | peeled and smashed |
½ | tsp | Salt | |
¼ | tsp | Black Pepper | ground |
pinch | Nutmeg | ||
1 | cup | Gruyère | finely shredded, enough to cover |
Method
- preheat oven to 400ºF
- cut raw potatoes into thin slices
- add cream, potatoes, salt, pepper, nutmeg, onion, garlic in a pot, bring to a boil. Stir carefully from time to time
- when it boils pour into a baking dish, spread evenly
- cover with cheese
- bake for around 40 minutes
- let it rest for 15 minutes
