I started to see a lot of content by Jacques Pépin recommended by YouTube. Can you tell? I watch a lot of food related things. Anyways, this video about making Crêpes showed up and it might be the way Jacques demonstrates it or the fact that this reminds me very much of the pancakes I ate as a kid, but decided I had to make it. Then one Saturday morning I decided to prepare the crépes.

I was shopping for groceries and there was a sale on cream cheese. Naturally I decided to make cheese cake because why not. I followed the Instant Pot Cheesecake #17 recipe and as usually it turned out incredible. I have to give them credit for putting up a recipe that’s to the point, full of actually good tips and hints and offers you several paths depending on how dedicated you are to your cake’s creaminess.

Felt like a marble cake so I made this recipe and because I was feeling fancy I added a chocolate glaze. Sadly it was a little too thin and mostly just ran off the cake, still delicous.

I love cinnamon buns. I usually make a recipe that I found on the internet and the results are not bad. Today I was craving cinnamon buns and decided to give the recipe from on of my favorite books, The Bread Baker’s Apprentice, a try. And man did they not disappoint. The texture and consistency of the buns was almost brioche like and might be the best I’ve made so far.

I had a craving for peanut butter cookies and this recipe was recommended to me. Of course I made them. They are quite delicious but it has to be said this recipe makes a ton of dough. Like I baked not even half of it and that’s already so many cookies. The other thing to note is that the cookies came out very crumbly despite being baked longer than the recipe asked for.

Sunday was prep day so I made a lot of food for the next days. Quiche I made quiche again, this time with panchetta, mushrooms, and thyme. For the crust I used less water this time and it came out softer and flakier than the last time. Recipe for the pie crust here. Key Differences: grated the frozen butter like they taught us in culinary school, makes making the crust a lot easier Less water.

I had some apples that needed to be used up, so I made The Chunky Chef’s apple crumble (crisp?). It turned out great and we enjoyed it with some vanilla ice cream.
